Why should Primary Care Specialists know more about

Sleep & its disorders?

Primary care facilities should be able to identify sleep problems, provide first line advice & care, identify at-risk patients & determine which patients need referral to specialist services for assessment & treatment.

  • Patients with signs or symptoms of sleep disorders frequently present in clinic.
  • Public awareness of sleep disorders has grown significantly in recent years.
  • Primary Care medical & nursing staff receive little education in Sleep Medicine.

We have designed an innovative introductory Sleep course to provide the essential knowledge & skills for healthcare professionals working in Primary Care.

More advanced courses are planned. These will focus on specific sleep disorders & how they can be recognised & managed in primary care.
